The media side of social media and sports is really powerful - but it's quite interesting to see the social media technology actually changing the game in many ways. Thanks to mobile devices, coaches can now capture athlete's performance real time on a smartphone, edit it quickly, and show the player exactly what happened right on the field - and then they can share it on YouTube, via email, Facebook - it's crazy. There are also phys ed teachers who are using video to record the instructions and rules to new games so students can watch them at home, then when they come in to gym class, they spend time moving more vs. sitting around and listening to the teachers lecture. These videos are being shared by teachers online via social networks just for educators - and it's changing the lives and education of students. Pretty amazing stuff this tech!

As a former board member of the Madison Social Media Club I highly encourage anyone looking to get more involved in Madison-area business to consider running for a position on the board. As the Czar of Partnerships, I was able to connect with numerous local businesses, helping them understand how social media (and the SMC) can drive organizational success - whether the goal was to increase brand awareness, boost sales, or simply help increase search engine rankings online. By partnering with these organizations through SMC initiatives like the annual holiday party or the first-ever FourSquare Pub Crawl (ah, the memories!) you can bring the power of social media for business to life in Madison - and have fun while doing it! When the entire board works together the lift is very light - as the Czar of Partnerships, your primary role will be to connect the SMC with local businesses - to get space and other resources to enable successful events, to help spread word of SMC initiatives, and to increase membership of this growing organization. You won't regret joining the board - and the entire Madison business community will appreciate your effort.

David, We are going to post these descriptions over the weekend. We are looking for a position commitment of one year ( length of office). In terms of time committment monthly, the board will be working together to decide frequency of events and calendar for the rest of the year. Although I believe that there will be some regular monthly time to put into the club even if there isn't a regular event going on. Thanks for asking - Wendy Soucie, President Madison SMC xeeme.com/wendysoucie

Looks like a great opportunity to help keep Madison on the leading edge of SM. Are there basic descriptions of these positions including an idea of the amount of time commitment SMC would like to see and have candidates commit too?
